Here are some of the more common questions I am asked about my portrait sittings.
How much does it cost?
If you would like information on my pricing for portraits contact me here
Please note I do have different payment plan options available.
How many people can we have in the sitting?
As many as you would like! I photograph extended family sittings quite often and don’t have a limit to how many people come ( within reason of course!!)
Can my pet be in the sitting?
Of course! They are family too! ( obviously if it’s a cat or animal that cannot leave your property we would need to do those photos at your home - but we can start at another location. If it’s a dog - the location you choose will need to be a dog friendly area.)
How long does the sitting it take?
Usually about an hour. Sometimes a little over - sometimes a little less.
What should we wear?
Clothes you are comfortable in! If it’s winter snuggle up with woolen coats and scarves - this looks awesome in a photo, especially if you are on the beach or somewhere a little wild. Dress for the season.
Also think about where you have chosen to have your sitting. If you have to walk a bit on uneven paths - high heels may not be the best idea ( or bring flats and swap your shoes out)
It’s best not to wear clothing with large emblems or slogans across the front as this draws the eye when you look at the images.
If you are having a family sitting then try wearing colours that compliment each other. Lighter coloured clothes tend to look better in images.
You can bring extra jackets, hats, scarves etc to change into for different photos. Just remember we will be in a public location so changing your whole outfit may not be very easy.
Do we need to bring anything?
Just yourselves. If you have small children - the normal things they need - snacks etc.
Do you have a studio?
No. I am a natural light photographer which means all my sittings are in an outdoor environment. I can do sittings in your home but I do not bring studio backdrops or lights.
What happens if it rains?
We can postpone to another day.
If you are having family photos as part of an event ( such as Nana’s 80th or have family visiting from out of Wellington) and it’s not possible to postpone we can take the photos in your home or another venue ( please note I do not use studio lights or backdrops so the background will be your home). If they are your graduation photos and you can’t postpone we can arrange an alternative location undercover. If the forecast is looking iffy we will arrange this before the day.
What happens if someone is sick?
If anyone in your family is sick - PLEASE ring me and we will postpone.
Children do not look happy in photos when they are sick or were sick the night before the shoot. It is best to postpone.
How many combinations of family can we have?
As many as you want within the hour. Sometimes it helps to write a little list before hand so you can make sure you get all the combinations you would like. I always take a few candid images too when everyone is cracking up laughing and looking at each other.
Can my family come to my graduation photo sitting?
Yes!! Of course - everyone is dressed up for your ceremony so it’s the perfect time to get some family photos as well as photos of you in all your graduate glory!
